Hey there! Welcome to our first weekend of marriage! We’re so happy you’ve made time to hang out with us, and we’re extremely grateful to have you in our lives.
If you know us, you might know that we tend to do things our own ways... typical oldest child stuff (yeah, yeah, insert eye roll here). So, here’s the plan -- we’re going to marry ourselves on top of a mountain and throw a party afterwards. We know, we know, you’re thinking: "What?" "Who’s going to officiate?!" "On a mountain, really?! I can’t climb a mountain!" "I’m skeptical... How's this all going to work?"
Hear us out -- We really want to do this whole wedding thing in a way that's authentic to us. Hence the hike AND the party. Also, self solemnizing is a thing in Colorado. So no, we do not need an officiant. We love the outdoors. We don’t like fancy clothes or being the center of attention. We really value relationships with close friends and family. To us, inviting you to our first weekend of marriage means we’re inviting you to walk alongside us in our relationship for a long time. You’re stuck with us! :)
Now, on to the fun stuff...
We’ll be camping/cabining Friday evening. Exact accommodations and logistics TBD. (Please don’t get nervous about logistics, we promise we’re on it!) If you’re in town by 4pm, we’d love for you to join us on this adventure. Our smiling faces, yummy food, a campfire, and loads of s'mores included.
One of our favorite things about Colorado is our gigantic, mountainous playground. So, Saturday morning we (Mike and Anna) will jaunt out for a quick and easy 8 mile, 6 hour, 3,000 feet elevation gain hike. :) Just kidding -- it’s not really quick or easy, but it's where the most beautiful high alpine meadow exists, which is 100% the most perfect place for us to say our vows to one another. It’s kind of a cool metaphor for marriage too, right? Sometimes laborious, sometimes more of a trudge than a stroll, and hopefully stunning on the other side of those hard times.
Anyway, you may be thinking, "While you’re doing that what am I supposed to do?". Well, we encourage you to also explore these outdoors we call home. Colorado is higher (no, not that kind of high ;)) than where you're from. That means breathing is harder, and even the most in shape people can struggle with physical activity. We've found some hikes with less mileage and elevation gain that still have amazing views in nearby Rocky Mountain National Park:
Take some selfies, do some self reflection, breath deeply, and say thank you to the universe while you're out there.
Please meet us back at Vesper Lounge in Denver at 3pm for our pronouncement and a champagne toast. After that, there will be some light snacks and drinks so feel free to stick around for a beer or two. We're going to have dinner ourselves that evening, but we’ve planned the perfect date night/girls night/guys night for you.

For the homebodies:
For those with kiddos
Sleep in! It’s been a busy weekend so far. Or get up, go for a run, and have 1, 2, or 10 cups of coffee before we see you. That’s probably what we will do.
At 11am our party starts! Yay!!!!!! Our friends at Sapor Coffee and Concepts are graciously allowing us to host a party in their space. We’ll have food, drink, dessert, and good hangs. The party will end around 2pm or so. Jet out then, or stick around to enjoy our city for a few more hours.
The following are some lodging recommendations for you all.
Friday night lodging (should you choose to be in the mountains)
Note: as time nears, we'll also begin coordinating any necessary rides.
Saturday night lodging
